Kenya’s COVID-19 caseload nears 20,000 mark as 788 more test positive


Kenya records 788 new COVID-19 cases who have tested positive from 5,521 samples taken in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 19,913.

Cumulatively, the number of samples that have been tested so far stands at 295280.

Out of the 788 cases, 785 are Kenyans while 3 are foreigners.

475 are male while 313 are female, the youngest is a one-year-old infant while the oldest is an 8-year- old.

County distribution; Nairobi leads with the highest number at 487, Kiambu 86, Nakuru 34, Kajiado 26, Mombasa 25, Machakos 21, Busia 20, Narok 14, Bomet 9.

100 patients have recovered from COVID-19, 8 are from home-based care programme while 92 have been discharged from various health facilities bringing the total number of recoveries to 8,121.

Unfortunately, 14 Kenyans have succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of fatalities to 235.
