Kenya records 606 new COVID-19 cases; total cases rise to 18,581

Kenya has recorded 606 new cases of COVID-19 from 4888 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has now risen to 18,581.

Cumulatively, the number of samples that have been tested so far stands at 284,500.

Out of the 606 cases, 583 are Kenyans while 23 are foreigners.

Males continue to lead in the number of cases, accounting for 409 of today’s cases, while 197 females.

The youngest patient today is a 4-month-old infant while the oldest is an
85-year-old.

Distribution of the cases by counties; Nairobi leads with 488, Kiambu 54, Kajiado 25, Machakos 16, Uasin Gishu 11, Nakuru 11.

CS Kagwe said that in Nairobi, Embakasi has become a serious COVID-19 hot spot. urging residents residing in Embakasi area to be extra cautious.

Today 75 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across the country. The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,908.

14 patients have succumbed to the disease, death toll now hits 299.
