The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party has said that there is no deal between Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka, that will see the former support the latter in 2022 General Election.
Through a statement from Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, ODM now says that the Wiper Party leader tried to push Raila to commit to supporting him in 2022 as part of the NASA pact, a demand ODM rejected.
ODM also accused its affiliate parties ANC, Ford Kenya, and Wiper of refusing to submit the Sh10,000 monthly payment of their elected leaders to finance the NASA secretariat ever since the 2017 elections.
“With their subsequent withdrawal of financial support to the NASA secretariat it became clear to us in ODM that we are dealing with very dishonest cowards who could not be depended on to put up a fight,” said ODM in the statement.
The Raila Odinga-led party further says that things started going south in NASA coalition when co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula, and Musalia Mudavadi skipped the mock swearing-in of its presidential candidate [Raila] at Uhuru Park.
Kalonzo is feeling threatened
The party says that Kalonzo is currently seeking a coalition agreement with the Jubilee Party to act as a buffer against Governors Charity Ngilu, Kivutha Kibwana, and Alfred Mutua.
“It is quite dishonest of Kalonzo to claim that he is seeking a coalition agreement with Jubilee because of ODM betrayal. The fact is Kalonzo is feeling threatened by Governors Ngilu, Kibwana, and Mutua,” added ODM.
Consequently, ODM has refuted Kalonzo’s claims that it stopped attending meetings of the NASA management committee.
“The fact is, members of that committee from other parties long left. Kalonzo knows that Johnson Muthama left Wiper long ago and has since joined William Ruto, together with Bony Khalwale who was also a member of the committee,” clarified the party.
