Police in Meru County have rescued an abducted person who had gone missing 14 days ago.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the missing person was rescued from a forest in Kiutune area in Igembe Central Sub-County, in a mission overseen by a team of DCI detectives working jointly with the police.
Three suspects who attempted to escape after been sighted at Njuri Ncheke forest in Mpinda village were arrested, leading the officers to where they were hiding their victim. They were demanding a ransom of Sh150,000 from the family of the victim.
“Upon Interrogation, the suspects namely Patrick Kimathi, Joseph Karithi & Daniel Muroki all aged below 30 years and who were demanding ransom of Ksh 150,000 from the family of the victim,led the officers to a nearby thicket where the victim was rescued after 14 days of abduction,” tweeted the DCI.
Several items were also recovered from the scene, with the police keeping them as exhibits.
The victim has since been taken for medical check-up.
