The 42-year-old woman who killed her four children by poisoning in Naivasha on Saturday, June 27 wrote a left behind a detailed letter explaining the course of her brutal actions.

The letter, which was addressed to her eldest son, explains the many problems that led to Beatrice Mwende killing her four children at Kabati estate.

According to the letter seen by TV47 Digital, Beatrice tells her son that she was not ready to raise up children whom she knows would suffer in life due to poverty.

The mother of six tells her eldest son not to lose hope in life and to always trust in God, laying bare the hardships of life she was facing in raising children whose fathers had neglected their responsibilities.

“If only I had a stable job, I would have not killed your siblings…As for the house rent, I have paid up to April, May and June are not yet paid. Water bill has dues of Sh1,650,” read part of the letter.

The woman, who was arrested in neighboring Kayole estate where she was hiding after the murders, advises the son to work tirelessly to raise his education fees plus that of his younger brother. She warns the son not to associate with her estranged boyfriend whom she accuses of being ‘evil’.

The bodies of the four minors aged 8, 6, 4, and 2 years have since been removed to Naivasha County Referral Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
