A 42-year-old woman in Naivasha on Saturday, June 27 killed her four children aged between two years and 8 years by poisoning.
Beatrice Mwende is said to have poisoned her two daughters and two sons at Kabati estate under unclear circumstances before fleeing.
According to police report, the suspect phoned her brother Jackson Kimani after killing the children to inform him of what she had done.
Police accompanied by the brother found dead bodies of the four minors aged 8 years, 6 years, 4 years and 2 years lying on the bed inside a two-bedroomed house.
“The bodies didn’t have visible injuries but had traces of fresh vomit and blood on their mouths. A handwritten note was recovered from the house and bore details of the motive leading to the incident,” read the police report.
According to Kimani, her sister was working with an NGO in Naivasha before she was laid off two months ago due to COVID-19.
The suspect was arrested in Kayole estate where she was hiding.
The bodies have since been removed to Naivasha County Referral Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
