The risk of contracting COVID-19 in Mombasa County is higher compared to if one is in Nairobi County.

According to Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi, Mombasa has a COVID-19 attack rate of 107 compared to Nairobi’s 55, with importation of COVID-19 cases during the first days of the pandemic, high mobility of people in the two city counties being among the variables that were taken into consideration.

40 out of the 47 counties in the country have so far being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with Dr Mwangangi saying that studies are still being conducted to provide the attack rates of all the counties.

Kenya has so far recorded a total of 5,206 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,823 recoveries and 130 deaths since the first case in mid March, 2020.
