DCI detectives on Friday, June 19 arrested five suspects in connection to a series of violent robberies within Bungoma County.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), detectives acting on intelligence arrested 27-year-old John Wanyonyi at Mooka estate in Kanduyi, who was found in possession of several ‘stolen’ items.
“…several electronics reportedly stolen from various households, a raincoat, military boots, settled land sale agreement & cash sale receipts of Ksh 62000 were found,” @DCI_Kenya tweeted on Saturday June 20.
The suspect, upon interrogation, led the sleuths to a flat near Shell petrol station along Kanduyi-Bungoma road, where four more suspects were nabbed.
The four suspects are two Ugandans, 48-year-old John One Are and 35-year-old Milton Onyango, two Kenyans, 26-year-old Linda Adhiambo and 33-year-old Brian Ochieng.
More ‘stolen’ items were recovered from the flat including two TV sets, five mobile phones, two refrigerators, solar panel, assorted new clothes, beddings and mattresses (purchased between 9th & 13th June 2020 as per supermarket receipts), three metal bar cutters, a riveting gun and handcuffs.
The five suspects are also believed to be behind the June 8 killing of a businessman, Stephen Gacheche, who was shot dead and Sh2 million robbed from him.
