Striker Odion Ighalo is set to return to China when his loan deal expires next week, unless there is a last minute breakthrough in negotiations.
The 30-year-old signed a short-term loan deal in January as a back-up to injured striker Marcus Rashford-who has since recovered, a deal that is coming to an end on May 31.
Due to coronavirus pandemic, the league was brought to a halt and Ighalo’s deal will end before the possible June return.
Further, reports indicate talks between Manchester United and Ighalo’s parent club Shanghai Shenhua are not yielding results, with Shenhua keen on having the striker back to play in the Chinese Super League.
United have already decided not to buy the Nigerian on a permanent basis, but Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like to keep Ighalo until the season is completed.
