Activist Boniface Mwangi is famous for his criticism of the government especially on matters human rights. On Sunday, however, Mwangi turned the gun on churches and religious leaders.
Mwangi posted a video on both his Twitter and Facebook accounts, announcing that he had unveiled his own church where his main aim will be to swindle the worshippers of their hard-earned money.
“We have opened our church here. Bring your money here for prayer and deliverance so that I can con you like other pastors do”.
Mwangi also took issue with the fact that church leaders allow politicians to play politicians in a place meant for spiritual nourishment.
“Pastors, sheikh and prophets are only after money these days. Growing up, we went to church to get spiritual nourishment. Nowadays we go to church to sin,” said Mwangi as he mocked places of worship.

His sentiments however rubbed a section of Kenyans. Netizens took issue with the fact that Mwangi appeared to be mocking religion and had no moral authority to question anyone’s spirituality.
Facebook user Faith Muna said, “Manze Boniface umelenga kubaya!
I love all you say but in this your mocking God in a way.
Even the time of Jesus there were fake churches that didnt make all pastors to be evil.”
Here are other sentiments from Kenyans from Mwangi’s Facebook page.
