Kenya has lost one of the three female governors in Kenya after Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Laboso succumbed to cancer on Monday afternoon.

Dr Joyce Laboso was a symbol of strength to all women in leadership. She was an industrious and highly respectable leader committed to transforming Bomet County.

Joyce Laboso made history being one of the three women governors in the Republic of Kenya.

She defeated her rival Isaac Ruto who being the incumbent many thought would easily retain the seat.

People even doubted if she would defeat Ruto who was at that time the Chairman of Council of Governors in Kenya but she surprised them by winning the elections.

Laboso also overcame the challenges that come with being a woman in politics and holding a high leadership position.

Here is how some of the female leaders eulogized her:

Condolences to the family, friends and great people of Bomet following the loss of Governor Dr Joyce Laboso on Monday afternoon at Nairobi Hospital. It’s such a sad day, particularly for women leaders who lost a great friend and one of the two female governor’s in Kenya – Hon Fatuma Gedi.

My sincere heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and people of Bomet county for the demise of H.E Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso. Its a big blow to the Nation of Kenya and Women leadership to lose such an industrious andt highly respectable leader committed to transforming Bomet – Hon Charity Kathambi
