The Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria has condemned the government’s move to shut down betting firm terming it as a move that is biased and against the law.
“The directives are being issued in a skewed manner sparing some well-connected platforms. Until we pass a law banning betting we should stick to the law and fair play,” Kuria said on his social media page.
Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has relentlessly led an onslaught on betting companies through the Betting Control and Licencing Board.

” It is presumptuous and preposterous for government to close down betting paybills allegedly on tax-related matters when KRA has not issued agency notices,” the Gatundu South MP noted.
On July 9, 2019, the Betting and Licensing Board (BLB) announced the suspension of 27 betting companies licenses in Kenya. BLB claimed that they had not been paying their taxes.
Gamblers now have 48 hours to remove their money from the betting companies’ paybill accounts.
