Nairobi County Senator Johnson Sakaja has proposed that Nyayo National Stadium name be changed in honour of Kenya’s football legend Joe Kadenge.
Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, Sakaja said that Joe Kadenge has left a big mark in Kenya and naming a stadium after him will bring him back to existence.
The legend earlier known by the phrase; Kadenge na mpira shuti goal, is arguably Kenya’s best footballer ever.
“Moi International Stadium will remain but let’s change Nyayo Stadium to Joe Kadenge International Stadium,” Sakaja said.
Sakaja said that if the government fails to do so then as football-loving fans they will rename City Stadium after Kadenge.
To him, the government should not only honour politicians but also sportsmen and women who have made an impact in Kenya.
