The First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on Saturday joined other first ladies of Africa to advocate for more resources that will be used in the fight against cancer in the continent.
The first ladies appealed to international organizations, governments and stakeholders to put support their effort in fighting non-communicable diseases such as cancer.
Margaret, who is in Niamey, Nigeria for the 23rd Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) General Assembly, urged leaders to committed in the fight against the disease that is becoming a major cause of death in Africa.
There has been a rise of cancer cases in Kenya in the recent past with Members of Parliament opening up about their battle with cancer.
Kibra MP is Kenneth Okoth is currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Last week, Kenya also lost a hardworking and diligent man Bob Collymore who was the CEO of Safaricom.
