Kibra MP Kenneth Okoth has taken a break from cancer treatment to visit the Kenyan Ambassador to France, Prof Judy Wakhungu.

Mr Okoth, who was diagnosed with stage four colorectal (colon) cancer in February 2019, discussed development issues with the Prof Wakhungu.

The legislator has been receiving his cancer treatment from Europe due to the advanced stage of his cancer. Since then, he has been pushing for the improvement of the healthcare system in Kenya.

The Kibra MP drafted a bill to have marijuana legalized in Kenya. He cited the American Cancer Society, which prescribes marijuana as a way to relieve nausea caused by chemotherapy.

“Medical cannabis and cannabis oils are documented for being effective in pain relief and non-addictive treatment of certain symptoms and side effects. We need to empower doctors to safely prescribe medical cannabis in Kenya,” Okoth said.
