MPs give NBK 14-day ultimatum to present its accounts to Auditor General

The Parliament Thursday issued a 14-day notice to the National Bank of Kenya to present its accounts to the Auditor General for audit.

However, National Bank officials told the Public Accounts Committee that the bank is listed and its accounts are audited by Price Water House Coopers and cannot be audited by the government.

The MPs, however, say the bank is hiding something given that it has had a lot of issues within its leadership.

The bank had in the recent past been performing poorly while some of its former officials were fired while others were prosecuted over loss of funds.
