Nyeri MCA claims that his life is in danger

Gatitu/Muruguru ward (Nyeri) Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Simon Muturi has asked for protection from the government on account that his life is in danger.

Muturi claimed that a group of about 20 people in motorbikes stormed his mother’s house on Saturday evening and told her they wanted Muturi’s head. Muturi was not yet home at that time. However, his mother alerted him and advised him not to go home that day.

“I feared for my life and I went to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI). I wrote a statement at 10pm that same Saturday and told them my life was in danger,” Muturi told Citizen TV.

The Nyeri MCA continued to say that the deputy DCI officer advised him to find a hotel to spend the night as they begin the investigations.

Muturi says that he suspects those who disrupted the launch of the Sh256 million Riamukurwe water project in Nyeri last Saturday, are the same people who are coming after him.

He has alleged that those unruly youth, came moments after the Nyeri Member of Parliament, Ngunjiri Wambugu, arrived at the launch.

“Over 500 youth were brought to jeer us so as to prevent those elected in Nyeri constituency from speaking, saying that we’re Tangatanga yet this is a Kieleweke area,” the Nyeri MCA said.

The launch, which was been spear-headed by the Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri, was cut short by the rowdy youth.

“Those young men could shout that today you are not going to be alive. I was rescued and put inside the CS’s car which was stoned as we left,” Muturi recalled.

Muturi is now asking that the Interior and Coordination of National Security CS, Dr Fred Matiang ‘i, to speed up the investigations.

“I also want to be given security because I am afraid that my car will be burnt. I am even using another person’s car,” the MCA added.
