Police detectives have recovered nine lost children between the ages of 12 and 17 years from a house in Soweto slums in Nairobi.
Detectives suspect the teenagers to be victims of child trafficking.
Three suspects were also arrested in the incident, 41 year-old-Said Hamisi, 52-year-old Maimuna Bakari and 80-year-old Sophia Wanjiru.
The detectives said that they rescued the children after launching investigations into the disappearance of a 17-year-old student, where they were led to Soweto residence where children were confined in rooms.
“The arrests followed the disappearance of a 17-year-old student from Soweto, whose search led detectives to the house where they found the children packed in a room.
“Investigators believe that the children were waiting to be trafficked. Suspects in lawful custody,” police said.
