A teenage sausage factory worker has been killed after being sucked into a meat mixer.
The Mirror reports that the 18-year-old was just two weeks into the job when the tragedy unfolded.
It is understood he did not know how to operate the machine and used it when one of his co-workers stepped out of the room.
According to police spokesperson Jerwin Servano, the young worker, identified as Jomar Junco, caught his right arm in the meat mixer and was then dragged into the machine.
Police Major Mark Evan Salvo, chief of the La Paz police station, added: “He was not grinded. He was just stuck.”
The incident happened at the factory in the district of La Paz in the city of Iloilo in the western Philippine province of the same name.
Reports said that the accident took place at around 7.30am and the emergency services arrived on the scene about 9 am.
