Work on the Standard Gauge Railway has claimed Rimpa Ole Kasasi Road, blocking the residents of Rangau and Kambi Moto from accessing Rongai town, Kajido County.
The closing of the road has denied the residents from accessing social amenities like schools, churches, hospitals, and supermarkets.
The alternative route to Rongai town is 13km away.
“Once you tell a customer it’s Ksh150 from here to Ongata Rongai, they find it hard to pay it,” a Kandisi resident told Citizen TV.
Before the closing of the Ole Kasasi Road, it only took the residents about 15 minutes to get to Rongai town.
Appeals made by the residents to build a bridge or underpass have been shut down due to security reasons.
