A widow in Nkoroi, Ongata Rongai is one of the residents who are now homeless after her house was demolished on Friday.

According to business man David Wanjagi, the widow’s house was demolished before she was compensated.

The demolition has taken place in several other places in Rongai to pave way for the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) expansion.

The deadline for Rongai residents to vacate for the construction of the SGR phase 2A was on January 10, 2019. A total of KSh7.9 billion was paid out by the government for compensation in October 2018.
