Teachers have accused their employer Teachers Service Commission (TSC) of targeting them with sacking after they boycotted the implementation of the new curriculum.
This is after the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) fired three primary school headteachers for missing training on the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC).
According to Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) the new curriculum is illegal and teachers should not be fired for rejecting it.
Taita Taveta Knut secretary Lenox Mshila said the rights of the headteachers have been violated.
Last month, Knut chairman Wilson Sossion called upon the teachers to boycott the program.
“The legal process of implementing the curriculum was not followed, thus making the entire process illegal, ”
However, TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia has vowed to take stern action on those teachers who interfere with the implementation of CBC.
