Kenyans took to Twitter on Wednesday to express their frustration with the political and business elite accusing them of political corruption where state decision is skewed to their advantage.
Trending under #StateCapture Kenyans said politicians and state patrons award tenders to the well-connected in return for kickbacks helping them to consolidate power. KOT hit out at politicians for manufacturing scandals to benefit a few citing cases such as the Goldenberg, Turkwel dam project and many others.
The events compare with the situation in South Africa where former president Jacob Zuma was accused of favoring the Gupta family in awarding of state tenders. KOT was asking if Kenya and South Africa are being run with the same script.
They accused Kenyatta’s family of acquiring competitors in the dairy industry then increasing prices to make abnormal profits.
David Ndii: Kenyattas capture is by enclosure of private business e.g. growing monopolisation of the milk sector through acquisition of competitors has increased profits by over 60% about 20B. #KenyaStateCapture #KenyattaCronyCapitalismStateCapture pic.twitter.com/0jlGjvuoQf

Ordinary Governance reforms cannot work in Kenya because of #StateCaptureKenya – the repurposing of State institutions for private profiteering. This at national & county govt level .@InformAction_KE .@AfriCOG .@Maina_Kiai .@OderaChacha .@Gladwellotieno .@ItsGeorgeKegoro
